Applying a Classification
Section titled “Applying a Classification”Page editors use Classify to apply a classification level that matches the sensitivity of a Confluence page.
When to apply a classification
Section titled “When to apply a classification”Apply a classification when a page contains information that should be handled according to a known sensitivity level.
Common examples include:
- Internal policy pages.
- Confidential project planning pages.
- Restricted finance or HR pages.
- Partner-facing pages in an external collaboration space.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Open the Confluence page.
- Open the Classify control.
- Select the appropriate classification level.
- Review the visual banner or page header style.
- Check whether permission guidance appears.

Example
Section titled “Example”A page editor opens a project planning page that includes sensitive launch details. The editor selects Confidential so readers see the classification before using or sharing the content.

Notes for admins
Section titled “Notes for admins”Make sure each classification level has a clear name, description and reader guidance. Page editors should not need to guess which level to use.
