Applying a Classification

Page editors use Classify to apply a classification level that matches the sensitivity of a Confluence page.

Apply a classification when a page contains information that should be handled according to a known sensitivity level.

Common examples include:

  • Internal policy pages.
  • Confidential project planning pages.
  • Restricted finance or HR pages.
  • Partner-facing pages in an external collaboration space.
  1. Open the Confluence page.
  2. Open the Classify control.
  3. Select the appropriate classification level.
  4. Review the visual banner or page header style.
  5. Check whether permission guidance appears.

TODO: Confirm product behavior. Confirm the exact entry point name and placement for the Classify control in the Confluence page UI.

A page editor opens a project planning page that includes sensitive launch details. The editor selects Confidential so readers see the classification before using or sharing the content.

Make sure each classification level has a clear name, description and reader guidance. Page editors should not need to guess which level to use.
